Hi, IDS 7.31UC4, archecker v 4.5, hp-ux 10.20. ac_config.std: AC_MSGPATH /tmp/ac/ac_msg.log AC_STORAGE /tmp/ac AC_VERBOSE 1 AC_TAPEDEV /dev/rmt/0m AC_TAPEBLOCK 32 When I run archecker -tdsv (which is to check archive), this apperas in ac log: 10/11/2000 11:45:32 ----------------------------------------- STATUS: Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UC4 Program Name: archecker Version: 4.5 Released: 09/21/99 00:12 Compiled: 09/21/99 00:16 on HP-UX B.10.20 U STATUS: AC_STORAGE /tmp/ac STATUS: AC_MSGPATH /tmp/ac/ac_msg.log STATUS: AC_VERBOSE on STATUS: AC_TAPEDEV /dev/rmt/0m STATUS: AC_TAPEBLOCK 32 TIME: [10/11/2000 11:45:32] All old validation files removed. And nothing more happens. Tape is not being read (LED is not blinking), the process "archecker" is not in top processes... Archive takes about 1.15 hour (12 GB), after cca 15 min of archecking no more archecker output. I then stopped archecker by ctrl-c. In one case (after ctrl-c) I saw something like "SCAN FAILED" message. Am I to wait longer ? Or am I doing something wrong ? Thanks, Michal -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Michal Hajek mailto:hajek@nspuh.cz --------------------------------------------------------------
Be sure to set the environment variable AC_CONFIG for example:
$ export AC_CONFIG=ac_config.std

Hi,
variable AC_CONFIG was not set, but it was not the problem.
I unfortunately read article on www.iiug.org, there is written:
....
At the first prompt press <RETURN> (not a "1" like it leads you to believe).
....
Well, pressing only Return is wrong way to validate archive tape :-)
As it leads to believe, "1" + Return makes the goal :-)
Thanks to all for interest.
