Call me a cynic, but I've seen this on every major piece of software I've
ever used. Operating systems, databases, compilers, interpreters, mail
software, browsers, everything. In short, yes I have, but I do in every
piece of software I use.
In general, I'd say Informix is no worse than any other DB vendor, often
better. But at least the functionality they offer is good enough to make me
live with the warts. (Mine and theirs! :)

In addition, I'd like to say that when you DO find a bug, Informix is
much better at actually CARING about it and fixing it than some other
major RDBMS makers that happen to have a lot of government contracts and
currently hold market share...
