Informix-Dynamic Server 7.2x over a expensive line

Hi Informix-Guru's (at least I think we need one), we have to access a database (I-DS 7.2x, UNIX) from several branch offices using expensive telephone lines (ISDN). Some of the data is "config.data" that is changed seldom but accessed very often. We try to cache this data in the branch offices using another Informix engine (I-DS Workgr.Edition 7.2x, UNIX). We think about a trigger based replication of the "config.data". But, is there a way to tell the engine(s): (a) given a select-statement using only "config.data", execute this statement locally on the branch office server (no network traffic over the telephone line) (b) given a select-statement using tables stored central, execute this statement on the central server (using the "config.data" stored central if involved) Any ideas would be appreciated. Please send suggestions to reinhold.egenter@bytec.de Regards, Reinhold Egenter.
