Restoring 7.1x data to 7.2x instance
Posted in 1998
Got a good one for you . . .
Test system: Production system:
7.23.UC4 OnLine 7.13.UC1 OnLine
HPUX 10.01 HPUX 10.01
We are currently in the process of upgrading a third-party software
package, which means converting their current database into their 'new'
database. We've made the first run with a few glitches and we're ready
for a second run (something about user documentation <G>). The new
software requires 7.23 (finally keeping up with the times somewhat),
hence the discrepancy between systems.
We need to move the data from the production system to the test system.
I'm already familiar with dbexport/dbimport; I've written a script to
handle that aspect. Due to the amount of data to move, I really don't
want to do that. Is there any way to take a level0 from the 7.13
instance and restore it to the 7.23 instance without using
dbexport/dbimport or unload/load? Reinstalling the 7.13 engine
temporarily is an option, if necessary; I'm not just sure how the
reinstall should work.
Any ideas? I know it's a bit strange; usually one goes forward, not
backward. We will go forward eventually (April), but only after the
second upgrade/conversion run is complete.
TIA
