Heads up for all you running 7.24 and I believe 7.23 as well. Not sure if all platforms or not. B91664: [REGRESSION IN BACKPORT OF FIX TO B80471. UPDATE STATISTICS PRODUCES BAD ] [DATA DISTRIBUTIONS AFFECTING QUERY PERFORMANCE. I recently upgraded to 7.24 from 7.22 on Solaris 2.5.1. Thanks to Bob Weiman, Informix Engineer, who visited my local IUG, I learned of the bug before pulling my hair out trying to figure out why some of my querries were so slow. This bug has an ill effect on the data distributions when doing update statistics medium and high. The distributions are inaccurate and incomplete. I was told that the only work-around without a patch is to drop all distributions. That wasn't enought for me, I got the patch. Everything is fine for me now. If you are running version 7.23 or 7.24 you may want to check your distributions after doing medium or high update statistics and make sure they look ok, and call support if not. Don.
