1) post process the report or 2) call the report function twice in the program, 1st time pipe the output to /dev/null , and have a "now_counting" flag set to true. Set another variable which increases with each header printed while the "now_counting" flag is true. Also in the header, when NOT counting, set a "last_page" flag to true when the current page count equals the max page count. In the trailer, have an "if last_page" clause that prints your "contined ..." message if "last_page" is false or " " if "last_page" is true.
