That guy must work for microsoft - what he said was true, but completely
unhelpful.....
You can specify the first extent size and subsequent extent size in the
create table statement (it's pretty simple - see manual for syntax).You can also find some info about calculating extent sizes somewhere in the
manuals also.
I'm at a loss to explain why there are no more extents.....perhaps there is
not enough contiguous disk space to create a new one? perhaps there is an
upper limit on extents and you have reached it? (Though I expect approaching
this limit would have caused performance problems long ago).
When things are working right, Informix allocates new extents as needed. If
this table has been around forever, it's possible that there is alot of space
allocated to the table that is not even being used. I would drop and
recreate the table after spending a few minutes figuring out how much space I
needed (both currently and in the long term).
