Yuri- Thanks a lot..!!
Have you ever restore from the OnArchive tape..
I tried taking the Archive backup in tape (two dbspaces only). It went
properly. Again I tried to restore it. This is also fine. I got the message
like
"Physical Restore of pstable_test75, psindex_test75 started.
Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds.
Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds.
Checkpoint Completed: duration was 1 seconds.
Physical Restore of pstable_test75, psindex_test75 Completed."
I have one database in one dbspace(pstable_test75).
The indexes are in a different dbspace (psindex_test75). The database name
is test75. While I tried to use this Database Test75 I got an error message
like this.
" 311: Cannot open system catalog (systables).
155: ISAM error: Primary and Mirror chunks are bad "
What could be the reason.. Any idea..
Thank you
Santanu

1.First of all, you need to define your device types in
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/config.arc. If you want to use tape define this as TAPE =
/dev/rmt0h
2.Then you must go to On-Archive (I'm using menu interface, it seems to
me much easy then command ).
3.First of all, you create vset with your device type. Vset is logical
grouping of volumes.
4.Then specify volumes for this vset. Remember, each volume means that
you must enter another tape in tape drive. When you define volume on
particular tape, unique header will be written on this tape with params,
defined for this volume (size,etc.).
5.After desired number of volumes was installed, you can create
OnArchive archive request. In request you must specify vset, defined in
previous steps. During request you can specify whether this request will be
executed immediately, or you will execute this request manually later.
For detailed overview see 'Archive and Backup Guide' - you can find it on
www.informix.com.
Hope this helps.

Yes, of course. I've used OnArchive for about 2 years.

First of all - when you restore your dbspaces you need associated logical
log records to perform logical recovery for this dbspaces. Second - examine
Database Tablespace, it's page address is 0x100002. Check there if
systable's address for this database is correct. For more detailed analysis
post full fragment of your online.log file.
