Hi *, I´ve setup some Servers with this configuration and I´m wondering about a strange setting in the /etc/system file of Solaris, that is recommended by the platform notes File of Solaris. shmsys:shminfo_shminfo=100 This forces Solaris to return only shared memory segements larger than 100 bytes. I read in the book by Adrian Cockcroft "Solaris Tuning" there should be no reason ever to change this value. So why does Informix recommend this? Thanks in advance Thomas Mieslinger

I read in the book by Adrian Cockcroft "Solaris Tuning" Surely that is shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=100. That is the value on the machine Informix did the porting on. so it is one that informix has been tested against. Reduce to 1. Otherwise you get errors from powerd when the machine boots as powerd tries to allocate 28 bytes of shared memory and fails. >there should be no reason ever to change this value.
