Their sales were better than ever the last 2 quarters and they have a good market share. Okay, they obviously are way behind O.R.A.C.L.E., but they continue to grow. I believe that the "i.Economy" strategy is good and is in line with today's trends. And Informix's positioning is that the new economy has LOTS of new opportunity, so that levels the playing field. We shall see if it works out that way, but for now, I'm not sweating it. - Ron F. ----- Ron Flannery rflanner@informixhandbook.com > mars1972@my-deja.com wrote: > > > In article <390E17D3.2882A065@yahoo.com>, > > Nikita <Nikita@yahoo.com> wrote: > > > Ability???? > > > hahahahahahahah....that's funny too! > > > Get real baby. > > > If Oracle were purely hype, they would have been dead a long time ago, > > just > > > like Infomix. > > > > > > > A large portion of Oracle's market share comes from government > > contracts. .. No problem there: that is about the ratio or Oracle DBAs needed for one Informix DBA. :-O And I totally disagree with you here...it's the ratio of Companies running Oracle vs. Informix. Maybe Informix is gaining back market share (luckily for all those investors that sued the company so they can get their money back), because like you said, there's room for everyone, and Oracle doesn't particularly cater to smaller companies. We are running several terabyte sized Oracle Databases on Sun E10K's and there are two of us..... Another company I was with running SQL Server on NT -- small MB databases and there were five of us -- "Ron M. Rock on! Thats the kind of recommendation NO vendor can dispute. Ever though of spreading the good news to comp.databases.oracle.server ? Over there we know we are the best but it doesn't hurt getting reminded about it from time to time.
