I think there's an environment variable called SACEISOL or something to that
effect.

There is indeed SACEISOL for ACE, and SPERISOL for Perform. The value
needs to
be in all lower case, no leading spaces, single embedded space, and one
of the
values:
dirty read
committed read
cursor stability
repeatable read
Some other variations might work, but the value is silently ignored if
it is not recognized.
