We are splitting our server into an app and DB server (2 different
servers). How can I do an onstat - to see if the engine is up from the app
server? I have my Informix variables set, but it's not working. Dbaccess
works fine from the app box.
INFORMIXSQLHOSTS=/u/ifmx/etc/sqlhosts
INFORMIXTERM=terminfo
INFORMIXDIR=/u/ifmx
INFORMIXSERVER=emco1_net
Thanks

AFAIK onstat only works on the same machine IDS is running on. In order
t o solve this problem, we created a script on the DB server. This
script included enviornment variables and the onstat command (It also
included any passed parameters to allow us to run any of the onstat
options). Then on the app server we have a script to
rexec DB_hostname fully_pathed_script_on_DB_server. In order to
automate this, you will need a .netrc file so that you won't have to
sign on to the
DB server everytime you run it.
Hope this helps.
