after adding DBSERVERALIASES into onconfig file

I can't bring the server ON-LINE after manually adding server aliases into onconfig file. The error message was: "shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 'dataPower'. Does it mean I have to reinitialize the root database or reboot the server?

If not, you will have to bring Informix down and back up before it knows about the new alias. Also you will need to add an appropriate entry to your sqlhosts file. If everything is done correctly you should be able to set INFORMIXSERVER to DBSERVER or DBSERVERALIAS and get a connections to the database. Good luck!
