Informix

Hi, for restore you don't need to start or initialize the instance, i.e. you don't need to do "oninit -i". The only thing you need to do is to make sure that the devices or files exist where the chunks will be located . Of course there also needs to be enough space on the devices or in the file system and access rights need to be correct. If in doubt you can set them with the commands "chown informix:informix <device/file names>" "chmod 660 <device/file names>" You need the correct onconfig file and environment set up. Then you start the restore (ontape or onbar command). This will then automatically start the instance's processes. You don't do that manually. If you have started the "oninit" processes before, then there will already be some shared memory created by them. The oninit processes started by the restore will then not be able to start up correctly and create their own shared memory. This should solve the problem.
