Using Onbar to do a system restore

Hello all,
Time for my daily stupid question. We are trying to do a system
backup on one machine (onbar -b -w) which worked fine. Then we want to
restore it onto another machine, both have the same version of
informix. How does it know where to find the backup and how do we
direct it to another location?

At a minimum, reference the backup/restore guide, which identifies the other
files you need to save in addition to the backup set. These files will need
to be copied to the destination machine (except possibly ONCONFIG -- if you
tweak the one on the destination machine -- chunk path names must match! --
and database server name)
If you're using ISM, I think you're outaluck. ISM uses the machine name to
identify the backup. MAYBE, if you change the machine name to match, and
copy all the ISM catalog stuff, you can do it. Easier to just do an ontape.
We've done cross-machine with both OmniBack and ADSM. Someone else has
posted messages about problem trying it with Veritas NetBackup.
HTH and GOOD LUCK,
Doug
