Extent size when rebuilding a table

Hi! I'm trying out ways to reduce the number of extents for tables. The method I've used is the "ALTER INDEX my_index TO CLUSTER"-method. When allocating contiguos pages for the table, informix uses just the number of pages needed. Is it possible to set the size for the first extent as you can do for the next extent? This way I should be able to give the table some extra space in the extent, to grow in. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Not for an existing table, no. Create a new table (with the updated EXTENT SIZE clause, use INSERT INTO... SELECT FROM ... or my dbcopy utility (which tends to be 3x faster) to copy the data, then drop the original table, rename the new one and rebuild the indexes. Art S.
