Informix creates temp tables for a number of reasons (eg SCROLL cursors; uncorrelated subqueries). Only sort files (due to an un-indexable ORDER BY) get put in $DBTEMP. Everything else goes in the root dbspace. So you need to do two things: (1) Get to know the things that cause Informix to generate temp tables, and optimise your code to avoid it happening. Do this first. (2) Check how much free space there is in your rootdbs. Add an extra chunk if necessary. akent@cix.compulink.co.uk (Andy Kent) -------------------------------------
