Creating customised runner problem

I have a system which calls C functions. It works fine when compiled under i4gl, but I want to run it under RDS and in particular debug. I had a go at the examples for creating customised runners/debuggers which was OK. I tried to create my real runner which appeared to work fine (no errors running cfglgo) but when I try using it I get "bus error (coredump)". I have CCOPTS="|-lisam" since one of the C libraries call ISAm routines. When I try to create a customised debugger using exactly the same libraries I get an error "/bin/ld unsatisfied symbols _sig_int" when I run cfgldb and it does not create my custom debugger. I am running HP-UX 9.04 (with the built-in C compiler), RDS 4.1. I'm not a C programmer (!). Any help or ideas would be gratefully received and acknowledged.
