ODBC Connection

I am trying to connect an Access2000 database to our Informix side. ODBC is setup and I see Informix (on a Unix box) and all the objects of the database. I can import the tables from Informix and get all the data but am unable to view the data if I choose to link to the table. Linking is the ideal choice for dynamic content. Access gives me a message saying only that it is unable to view this table in datasheet view. If I setup a query on a linked table to Informix I can see all the fields within each table as well as the field properties, but when I run the query nothing happens. I used the Informix SDK and used Setnet32 to setup and test the link to the database. I then used the ODBC manager to setup the connection using the Informix 3.30 32 bit ODBC Driver provided from Informix. The only thing that is questionable in the ODBC setup is the Transalation Library dll that the connection uses. Informix documentation listed a different dll than resides on my machine. Could this make the difference between successfully importing data vs. linking not working? Has anyone tried retreiving Informix data through Access? Any help would be appreciated. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
There is a bug in some versions of the MS data access components that causes this problem with many ODBC drivers and Access 2000. Download and install the lastest MDAC from the MS web site. Hi Bob, Try WinSQL at http://www.imranweb.com/freesoft. It is free. You might find that easier to use than attaching tables in Access. Thanks Bob Foote wrote: > I am trying to connect an Access2000 database to our Informix side. > ODBC is setup and I see Informix (on a Unix box) and all the objects of > the database. FYI: I spoke to Informix and it did indeed turn out that I needed the latest Microsoft Data Access Components. The current version is MDAC 2.1, I had MDAC 2.0 (no good). I installed MDAC 2.1 and everything works fine. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
