In reply to Igor Andjelkovic's email about HELP !!!!!, on 1 May 97 Hi Igor, > I have a two error messages before my 4GL starts up > Actually , it is only one. > tbmode: forced-resident shared memory error > tbmode: shmctl: errno = 1. > > Please if anybody can help me out, keep in mind that I don't have > experience with Informix. > This error means that Informix is not able to make its shared-memory resident. Informix uses the shared memory for lot of its internal structures and queue management etc. If this shared memory is kept resident in Unix, then it enhances Informix performance . Therefore, Informix recommends that you keep the shared-memory resident by setting the value in config file to true ( usually tbconfig or onconfig ). However, this can only be done on those flavours of Unix , which support forced residency of shared memory. Apparently, your Unix does not and therefore, the error. The solution to this problem is to set the value of RESIDENT to 0 in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/onconfig or $INFORMIXDIR/etc/tbconfig depending on your version of Informix. > Thanks in advance!!!
