ER use over long distances

I am interested in talking to someone who is using ER between servers that are more than 150 miles apart. I have been told by my hardware people that there is no way to replicate between servers so far apart without some kind of network acceleration modules (or something like that). We either have or are planning on having a fibre connection between our servers. You can contact me by phone or email. Thanks! The hardware folks are thinking of the restrictions of disk mirroring. One of the earliest ER customers was replicating between the midwest of the US, Bankok Thiland, and Milan, Italy...
