The convention for moving back a field is <BACKSPACE>, <LEFT ARROW>, and sometimes <UP ARROW>. I don't think you want to substitute any of these. ;-) You could define an unused function key with the back tab keycode, as you say, then code for this F-key, but it would not be trivial. I was suggesting that the BACKTAB should generate the LEFT ARROW or whatever code Informix would never know that the key was BACKTAB pretending. "Mark D.
