The scenario is running Informix on a raid 5 verses a non raid system system. (Solaris 7 x86 OS) Could ~anyone~ point me to resources where there have been benchmarks run showing how much of a performance hit you take utilizing raid 5 compared to a non raid system?? And on a slightly different tack, are there any benchmarks showing performance gains using raw verses cooked file systems? -- again, reports rather then "it's quicker" TIA Peter W.

Your RAID-vendor should have those numbers, or you chould find another vendor;) > And on a slightly different tack, are there any benchmarks > showing performance gains using raw verses cooked > file systems? -- again, reports rather then "it's quicker" If someone said raw is 18.34% faster you'd still have to apply those numbers to _your_ setup. (ie. how much does disk-io contribute to your numbers) I understand your question btw;) Thomas
