Informix Fantasy (American) Football League
Posted in 2014
Non-technical thread. Thomas Beebe announces an Informix community fantasy American football league, expanding from a successful private league the previous year. The league is free, limited to 14 teams first-come-first-served, with draft in August. Several community members express interest in joining.

To go slightly offtopic from the normal discussion on this list I wanted to put this out there. Last year we tried a private Informix users fantasy football league that people had a really good time with. Cindy Lichtenauer ended up winning the full thing. This year we want to open it up to the larger Informix community. If you are interested in joining or have any questions send me an email off list. The game itself is about drafting a team of players and deciding who plays and who sits out each week, gaining points for them gaining yards, receptions, points, etc. Then you go head to head with someone else each week and whoever can get more points wins. The end of the season there is a playoff and the winner is whoever wins it out. The league itself is free and purely for fun. It takes about an hour a week to set up your team and make substitutions as necessary. There is an initial draft period that will be held later in the month of August which if you can't make you can pre-plan rankings and the computer will pick based on those. We will be limiting it to 14 teams, so very much first come first served. Half of the folks playing last year had never played before and it is fairly quick to pick up. As a disclaimer, this is not sponsored by, nor directly endorsed by, the IIUG or Advanced DataTools Corporation.
