}I must say that my experience has been less than pleasant with 7.22 on
}Digital UNIX 3.2 running Peoplesoft HR and Financials.
}1. DO NOT assign 2 cpu vps to an instance, this will cause the
}instance to crash whenever an oncheck is run.
Don't agree.. ! I always had 4 cpu vps and never had any problem
with oncheck.
}2. DO NOT use no-rewind tape devices, Informix told us that this is
}what caused a problem we had with an archive.
}3. DO NOT comment out tapedevices and leave them in the onconfig
}file. This also causes archive/restore problems, per Informix.
I'm not sure abt this, although very unlikely. Every port, whether Hp
or DEC goes thru the same test suite. Do you have a bug/problem number pointing
this..?
}4. Not related to Informix but I find Digital UNIX to be a PITA, due
}largely to OSF specs...you cant give away files for example, other
}problems with permissions not behaving the same way as in System V
}5. Also the Peoplesoft code is some of the worst stuff I've seen,
}multiple subselects in queries and it is WAY over indexed.
}6. DEC seems to be among the last hardware platforms to get new
}upgrades and releases. HP and Sun are usually way before DEC
The other side :
. It is the first 64 bit port
. supports Very Large Memory Databases.
}I would reccommend HP or Sun over DEC.
