TAPEDEV otherhost:/dev/tape
Also set the LOGDEV to point to the other host if you want to roll forward
any log tapes
But the missing piece of info you'll need: informix needs password-free
login to the other host. This means that on otherhost, either
/etc/hosts.equiv or the .rhosts file in informix account's home directory
must be setup to allow this. You can test it from the source host with
<login as informix>
$ rlogin otherhost
if u need a password, it's not working. If you get in without a password
prompt, then the engine can connect to the remote tape drive.
Note that the permissions on /etc/hosts.equiv or .rhosts files must be quite
restricted. No modern rlogin service will trust those files if they are
writable by the wrong people.
