Perhaps I'm missing something here, but isn't RAC based on a single controlling node which has to be running for the whole thing to work? While I've got you here, what's the largest number of nodes you've seen in a RAC cluster so far? I've heard rumours... cheers j. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniel Morgan" <damorgan@x.washington.edu> To: <informix-list@iiug.org> Sent: Friday, February 20, 2004 1:15 PM Subject: Re: DB2 DOUBLES THE PERFORMANCE OF ORACLE 10G > Tim Schaefer wrote: > > http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2/benchmarks/121503.html > > > > ( Gawd-I-just-love-this-shit :-) > > Ignoring the obvious differences in hardware making this claim > a obvious cheap shot from a marketing department that can't put > up a 1:1 comparison because it would have nothing to point to ... > > What happens when you pull the plug on one of those shared nothing > nodes as compared to one of Oracle's shared everything nodes? In the classes I teach we use a coin-toss to determine which student gets to walk around the table and pull the plug from the wall on any other server. It doesn't matter which one they choose. Less than a minute later the transaction restarts.
