Articles and Responses

I for one have been reading the Informix Users Group mailing list for quite some time (read years), and have seen the problems of the net come and go. There has always been a debate when I post. This debate spawns the common discussion. If someone posts an article completely unrelated to the newsgroup/mailing list, should someone else post a follow up article blasting that preson/business? Well, I have tried to use the old adage, post only when it's really important, and I feel this issue might feel under that arena. If you have a question, post it. If you have a very helpful hint, post it. If you've found a bug, post it. But PLEASE don't just post for the hell of it. There are a lot of people who read this newsgroup/mailing list, who don't want to see the garbage floating across the net. Stupid comments and quirky replys, look funny, but they really defeat the entire purpose of the newsgroup. If you have a one line comment to make to the author of an article. Mail it directly to the author. DON'T POST IT (BILLY WHEELER). Send it the the AUTHOR. A truly humorous comment, one which would amuse us is great, but my god, you're overloading the newsgroup.
