We use an accounting system with CISAM files and ISQL databases to run the
Diocese. We directly do custom reports and searches on the A/Cs data from ISQL/
I4GL.
Assuming you have the sources for the CISAMS and can look at, or know the data
structure the process is fairly simple.
The setup goes as follows
Create a new database,
Create all the new tables using schemas to match the CISAM definitions,
but omit all indexes.
Copy the xxx.dat files from the CISAM into the newly created dat tables
( ie xxxx_101.dat etc ) in the .dbs directory.
Use form build to create a default form and query the table to make
the definition is correct. Any errors drop and rebuild the table.
Is suggest you add indexes after.
For the brave --- you can link the xxx.dat CISAM to the xxx_nnn.dat
ISQL and get the best( worst?) of both worlds.
the.dbs
Snags - None that I know of but I am led to beleive by my 2nd line support Co
that the CISAM and ISQL versions need to be close in origin. I suspect this
is true only if you want to share not re build tables.
