Re: Function Numbering

I think that many people have miised the historical significance of this scheme. One of the reasons behind function numbering was with some 3GLs that had to have a unique name in the first 8 columns. By allocating a unique number at the beginning people could ensure that this uniqueness was maintained. 4GLs should not require an archaic standard such as this - but I have seen places where this was even extended to include table and column names - so I'm not surprised at anything!!! > In article <3pdm8k$2j1@cssun.mathcs.emory.edu> > timothy.hood@sltrib.com "Timothy Hood" writes: > > > Our shop is currently involved in a huge debate regarding numbering of > > Informix functions.
