Re: IIUG Board election results
Posted in 2008
Summary
Not a technical thread: this is a flame war spun off from a dispute about IIUG board elections. The only quasi-technical point is a brief argument over terminology — whether Informix counts as an "embedded" database (a hidden component, e.g. inside a phone switch or POS device) versus an "integrated" one (a visible part of a stack like LAMP). The rest consists of personal insults and accusations about the IIUG board nomination process. No technical problem is posed and no resolution is recorded; little of value for a reader seeking Informix help.

The sad part is that Gumby believes it...passionately. I mean really -
he named himself "Gumby" - isn't the answer in question? And he
actually found a way to rationalize a major embarrassment such as the
inability to spell to the level of a 5th grader. Was that ever been
one of your PBC's? Would think that would be important in employee
development skills. I recall it vaguely - when I was in middle school
as something I thought important to develop. And with respect to
"substance?" I'll let the post that said "you are [better] posting
when you are drunk." 'Nuff said! Oh - and your "patent idea" -
everyone would be confused...cause they'd look for their manual on
their new "POS" but wouldn't be able to find it 'cause you'd spell
"POS" wrong.
And Jack - last I knew you had a real PROBLEM with alcohol. How's THAT
going?

The sad part is that you don't believe that there is a difference between the meaning of embedded and integrated.
And which engineering school did you attend?
And how many embedded systems have you worked on? (And when I say embedded, I do mean embedded)
But hey! What do I know? I mean I am responding to Mark...

Mark,
Lets get to the root of the issue.
You started this thread as an attack on Stuart Litel and the IIUG. You made some very serious accusations which are off the mark. As I've said, Stuart aint a saint, but he has not done anything illegal or illicit in my presence or to the best of my knowledge.
So what happened that made you go off on this rant?
Did you apply for an IIUG board nomination?
Did you get rejected?
Now why would the IIUG reject your nomination?
Clearly you blame Stuart. But what if the real issue isn't Stuart?
What if the issue is you?
What could you possibly have done that would cause you to be so toxic?
Now don't be modest. If it were just a personality contest, how would I have gotten on the board?
Think real hard Mark.
