4gl and stored procedures

Hello! Maybe this question is rather stupid... but I did not find an answer in docs.. As far as I understand applications that interact with db can be easyily developed with 4GL. But is there any way to write a function in 4GL and use it in a stored procedure-like way? I mean compile it and deploy to server so that other applications could call it in a SQL statement? Sincerely, Artem Goncharuk
No ... you must use SPL if using the 7.x version of the database. If you are using 9.x, you can also use Java. -- Jay Aymond Community Coffee Artem Goncharuk <art@land3.nsu.ru> wrote in message news:96dfm9$sch$1@nl.novosoft.ru... > Hello! > Maybe this question is rather stupid... but I did not find an answer in > docs.. > As far as I understand applications that interact with db can be easyily > developed with 4GL. Well, I suppose it may be possible, but it would probably be a heavily slow and ugly solution. 1. Write your 4GL 2. Wrap it in ESQL/C calling functions 3. Use the DBDK to bind them into the server. Ish.
