Our plan is to unload data to flat files, and store the schema and the files on optical disk, sorted by date. That way we can re-create the table and load it whenever we want, and will not have to wonder what any particular data item is. This plan is also highly portable, as most any db could be made to read in the files. Please post any other solutions you find, and elaborate on how a given piece of software could stand the long-term changes in db structures and technology. __________________________________________________________________ | Clem Akins Standard Disclaimers Apply | |Reynolds Metals Co, Alloys Plant "Climb High, Cave Deep!" | | Muscle Shoals, Alabama USA cwakins@leia.alloys.rmc.com | |________________________________________________________________|
