I sent the message below to Alexey, and he responded that he'd posted
it to c.d.i and there were other postings there too - but I can't see
it so I'm resending - apologies for duplication if it is duplicated.
Note that since this, Alison has reported that the proble appears in
9.40.FC3 on AIX 5.2, but appears to be fixed in 9.40.FC4W2 on AIX 5.2.

Bug - to be precise, B167699. Please log a case against it.
It reproduces in 9.30 as well as 9.40; it does not reproduce in 7.31
(or, you say, 9.21).
