Is there any particular svc that Online (7.23) would use as a default? I've looked through /etc/services but really am not sure which one... There is no default service/port for Informix. It will use whatever port you name in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts. Most tend to use values in the 1500's since the original Ingres service is a default in most services files and was 1524 so that range is kind of traditional though not required. What ever service and port number you choose just have the sysadmin add it to the /etc/services file for you if you do not have root access. Art S.
