Question on Intersolv Informix driver for the PC
Posted in 1995
} Greetings All, } } I have been using ODBC with Intersolv's driver to connect up to an Informix } database. I am getting the connection OK. The problem is that I am setting } the connection option SQL_AUTOCOMMIT to SQL_AUTOCOMMIT_OFF as I don't want any } changes auto-committed. } } When I set this option however, whenever I go to execute a query it comes back } saying 'Transaction not available' which the Informix online-help tells me } means } I need a 'START DATABASE' command to be executed. I tried executing this and } it } gives me the same message. If I don't set SQL_AUTOCOMMIT_OFF it works fine. } } Any help would be immensely appreciated.... } } Peter Allfrey } ___________________________________________________________________ } Open Software Associates (OSA) } PO Box 401, Ringwood, Victoria, 3134, AUSTRALIA. } Phone: Inter.+61 3 871 1659, FAX: Inter.+61 3 871 1711 } Internet address: pca@osa.com.au Just a guess... I'll bet if you set that then the client expects a transaction, and automatically looks for logging, which it doesn't find. Does your database have logging? Do you want it to? I think not. Either turn logging on in your database, or don't set that option on the client. "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." "Then don't do that!" __________________________________________________________________ | Clem Akins Standard Disclaimers Apply | |Reynolds Metals Co, Alloys Plant "Climb High, Cave Deep!" | | Muscle Shoals, Alabama USA cwakins@leia.alloys.rmc.com | |________________________________________________________________|
