Re: Informix in Europe?

In article <333AF03C.7C60@pavilion.co.uk>, Ian Kirkup >> Informix is number 2 here as in most parts of the world. Should mean >> plenty of opportunities. >> >> Mike (Spain) >Same in the UK as well. Plenty of vacancies over here. I reckon there's plenty of work with most of the Big Six, but as far as popularity rankings go, it's still Oracle and then the rest. Just for fun, here's a breakdown of the number of jobs for each on JobServe (web service - very UK biased) at the moment... Oracle .................. 925 Sybase .................. 257 DB2 ..................... 254 SQL-Server .............. 134 Ingres .................. 116 Informix ................ 68 Not very scientific perhaps, but independent at least. You might want to argue about the size and nature of the work being carried out on these different platforms though. Personally I can't believe Sybase is quite so high up the list. But then, the City love it, don't they? I'd be interested in the results from JobServe equivalents in other countries, especially the US. -- Jeremy Rickard
