We run Online on AIX boxes, and our UNIX filesystem backups are 1024-byte
blocks on tape. The command:
chdev -l rmt0 -a block_size=<insert block size here>
runs at the beginning of our UNIX backup to ensure the correct block size
for that backup, I see no reason why this couldn't be the case at yours
ie.
set up a script that:
1. set blocksize to whatever you want it to be (chdev)
2. run informix backup (ontape, whatever...)
3. reset tape blocksize to whatever your admin likes
Hope this helps!
