Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

This concerns IDS 9.4 on Windows 2000.
What is the best way to blast a message up on the screen of the server
when logical logs fill up?
I've looked at alarmprogram.bat in the /etc directory,
but email is not a good option for the machine I'm concerned with.
The "pager" looks as bad.
We have a boss who will just reach for the reset button when the system
hangs instead of double-clinking the "backup logs" icon on the desktop
(duh!).
He cannot remember onstat -l or ontape -a (give him a break - he's 70 years
old).
I just upgraded his demo box from 7.3 to 9.4 to maybe prevent the totally
screwed
system that results when he does this (as well as other advantages).
But when the logs are full, I would like a clear message on the server
screen.
I could accept "NET SEND DEMO BACKUP THE LOGS YOU FOOL!"
or launch some program that turns the screen red, or anything reliable.
