I4GL cannot compile a basic program
A user running I4GL 7.32 with IDS 10 on SUSE 9 couldn't build a trivial "hello" program: linking failed with "ld: cannot find -lifsql". Suggestions were that the library search path wasn't being picked up: set/export LD_LIBRARY_PATH properly (and also LIBPATH/SHLIB_PATH), verify with 'export | grep LD_LIBRARY_PATH' since Bourne shell needs re-exporting, and add $INFORMIXDIR/lib, lib/esql, lib/cli and /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf. everything is working fine, but when i created a sample module using i4gl as
follows:
main
display "hello"
end main
saved the file and selected option runnable
it gave me error -4604 Errors Found in 4gl Module
The following errors were discovered during compilation.

It may not be LD_LIBRARY_PATH that you need to set. It could be LIBPATH or
some other name. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it should be for
Linux.

Make sure that you have exported LD_LIBRARY_PATH. If you are using Bourne
shell (/usr/bin/sh) then you have to export it again after any changes (only
have to export once for Korn shell or Bash). To check if it's been exported
with the new values you can:
export|grep LD_LIBRARY_PATH
(not env but export - env shows current shell's values some of which have not
been exported)

I use Suse,
you should have this paths:
/opt/informix/lib/cli
/opt/informix/lib
/opt/informix/lib/esql
/usr/local/lib
in /etc/ld.so.conf
and maybe add /usr/lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable
