What about Sysdatabases?
Posted in 2007
An Informix newcomer asked whether there's a SQL script to create the sysdatabases table. Replies explained that sysdatabases is a system (SMI) table inside the sysmaster database, created automatically at server initialisation by the buildsmi script ($INFORMIXDIR/etc/buildsmi) — so no manual creation is normally needed. If it's missing, buildsmi failed (e.g. INFORMIXDIR/INFORMIXSERVER unset or dbaccess not in PATH; check online.log) and can be rerun. It's queried as sysmaster:sysdatabases from any logged database. The poster thanked the responders.

Hi, I am new to Informix but I do have reasonable knowledge about the informix DB family. Can you people please tell me about Sysdatabases, is there a SQL file that I can run and create this table. Please do take some time out of busy schedule and do give me a lead/direction to take. I would really appreciate any help. Hi,
Sysdatabases is a system table in the sysmaster db. It is automatically
created and there is no need to set it up manually.
If this does not exist, the buildsmi script did not execute on system
initialisation.
You should see a note in online.log. This is mainly because you did not
set INFORMIXSERVER/INFORMIXDIR before initialisation or dbaccess was not
in PATH.
You can execute buildsmi for yourself afterwards (I think as user
informix, but better consult the manual).

Hi Group, How do I create Sysdatabases? Can someone please, give me the SQL file for the same and tell me how to run the query. It is naïve but is also necessary for the moment! Sysdatabases is in the System Management Interface (SMI) database, sysmaster. You can access it while connected to any logged database (access while attached to a non-logged database is not permitted) as sysmaster:sysdatabases or by connecting directly to sysmaster. Art S.
