Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Tom Girsch found syssqltrace_hvar always returned unknown type and Data Not Available on 14.10.FC7W1. Doug Lawry saw it working in 14.10.FC3 but broken in FC8. Tom reported tech support confirmed defect IT41463, fixed in 14.10.xC9, and a patch 14.10.FC8X6 was available on request.

Hive mind!
I'm trying to trace errors in a session using syssqltrace, syssqltrace_iter and syssqltrace_hvar. But when I query syssqltrace_hvar, I always get this:
sql_hvar_type unknown
sql_hvar_data <Data Not Available>
How can I fix this so that I see the actual data? I have the following setup:
SQLTRACE level=high,ntraces=2000000,size=16,mode=global
The query is being run by user informix, so I wouldn't think UNSECURE_ONSTAT should be relevant.
This used to work, in some previous release of 14.10 (I'm presently on 14.10.FC7W1)
Thanks in advance for any insight,
- TJG

Hi Tom.
Same for me: it's fine in 14.10.FC3 but broken in 14.10.FC8. Let us know the IBM defect number when you get to that stage!

From tech support:
I opened the following defect and it is already fixed.
IT41463 - QUERY ON COLUMNS SQL_HVAR_TYPE AND SQL_HVAR_DATA OF TABLE SYSSQLTRACE_HVAR SHOWS INVALID INFORMATION
The fix of above defect will be included in 14.10.xC9 (This version is not available yet).

There is also a patch, 14.10.FC8X6, that you can ask for.
