Funny you should use the 1-5 scale.... As part of my Linux survey, we asked users questions which could be used to infer customer satisfaction of Informix. The weighted average for those running Informix who would like to see Informix on Linux is 4.59 which roughly equals 92% satisfaction rate. Meaning that they love the product enough that they would want to buy it if was ported to Linux. (Based on a response of 173 individuals currently running Informix.) Now while you think that this is high, Oracle scored better. With a weighted average of 4.77. Also consider that the Oracle response population was larger too. But hey, what do I know? Like the data isn't auditable or anything. (We required valid e-mails for the response to be counted.) Now since this isn't a random sample, please don't consider this to be the response based on all Informix owners. (That number would be closer to 3.98 ;-) [Oracle would be 4.43] So take what I say with a grain of salt. [You get to consider the size of the grain.] Of course since I don't work for Informix, (Rumor has it that they don't like me too much after my last dumpster diving incident where I ran away laughing at their jelly doughnut eating rent a cop :-) ), I think you can trust my opinion and my data. Unlike Clem and Mark who are employees and should have added that disclaimer. [Truth in advertising Clem! :-] BTW, total population (1280 not all running Informix shows 2.01) This would represent brand recognition not brand loyalty since it includes everyone, even those not running Informix. -HTH Uncle Mikey.
