The information you look for can be found on Informix's home page www.informix.com There should also be something in your $INFORMIXDIR/release directory. Informix IDS servers are limited to managing 1024 disk 'chunks' of up to 2GB each for a total of 2TB of data. There have been rumors of increasing the limits for 64bit versions down the road but nothing official yet. Art S. Kagel

Kagel Informix writes the following in the release notes of IDS 7.3: Data pages per fragment............................... 16,775,134 Data bytes per fragment........................... 33,818,671,136 If i'm not wrong, you can address 4096 fragments (dbspaces) with IDS 4,096 * 33,818,671,136 = 138,521,276,973,056 bytes or 138 TByte (theoretical, if your operating system can manage so much disks).
