What do you mean by PC client? Are you runing I-Net. In version 5.01 the environement variables are in INFORMIX.INI on each PC. You may be able to put this file on a network directory. I haven't tried. Are you using terminal emulators to log in and run applications on the server? In this case we source from the .login file, and that works fine. We have grouped users so they automatically get references to different source files when they are created and that works fine. I haven't even considered informix.rc as that gives every user the same environement variables. informix in every users home directory is a hassle to maintain, so why would I want to use that when sourcing works fine. > I've tried informix.rc and .informix, but apparently > they only work with Informix 6.0 tools on the server. > > For example, if I want each client to have PSORT_NPROCS equal to 5, > but I don't want each user to have to maintain their own variables > locally, what can be done?
