oncheck -cD ERROR
Posted in 2008
Topics: Installation, Setup & Upgrades
Hi All,
When running oncheck -cD on our database the following error message is
returned:
ERROR: Count of version 0 data pages 0 != pnv_pages -40
Reset partition data?
After entering Y and rerunning the oncheck -cD all seems to be OK.
Does anyone has any idea what this error exactly means? We do not encounter
any problems. We have upgraded our informix from 9.40FC4 to 10.00FC6 lately.
Could this be causing the error?
Thanks,
Bart.

Before you upgraded you did check you had no outstanding 'in-place'
alters didn't you??
This looks like an issue with multiple versions of a table existing.
Check for any in-place alters and I would suggest a pseudo update to
get a single version of these tables and then rerun your checks. Of
course I could be completely wrong !!

Hi Keith,
As far as I know there were no ongoing alters on tables prior to the upgrade.
In addition I performed oncheck -ce / -cr / -cc / -cD /-cI checks (as
suggested in the Informix manuals) prior to the upgrade. No strange things
were found during these checks.
Regards,
Bart

No manuals handy, however I do not believe any of these commands will
actually identify in place alters, they are only found from sysmaster
or the out put from oncheck -pT. Following have reference to them:-
http://groups.google.co.uk/group/comp.databases.informix/browse_thread/thread/d5

You could have in-place alters without being aware of them, any
database sructure changes such as adding or removing colums, extending
text colums or changinf numeric to text? All these result in an
in-place alter.
If none of the able them dust your maintenance contract off !!
