Gurus & Tape restore.

A question for Informix GURUS. We are moving from one machine to another - Pyramid MIS-12 Server to Nile 150. The MIS-12 server uses MIPS R3000 while the Nile 150 uses MIPS R4400 CPUs. The same version of the OS will be run on both machines. We are currently running Informix 4.10.XX and will also be running the same onthe new platform. Both are On-Line engines. The same version of code will be run on both machines, and the layout is exactly the same. The two machines are binary compatible. We are in need of a way to apply Informix continuous logs from one machine onto another, is there a way to do this without having to do a full restore first? Machine 1 has a database that needs to be available 24 x 7 which we are moving to Machine 2 (Nile 150). The plan is as follows: Archive level 0 on machine 1 and restore it on machine 2. Apply continuous logs from machine 1 to machine 2. We come up on machine 2 and perform continuuous logs on it. So far so good. However, should we encounter any problems on machine 2 we would like to fall back to machine 1. It is extremely important to keep both databases in sync on both machines. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to do this without applying the full restore onto machine 1 first and then the continuous logs from machine 1 back onto machine 1 and then the continuous logs from machine 2 onto machine 1. Am I wrong? This is what INFORMIX is telling us. Since machine 1 will not have changed other than for the continuous logs from machine 2, I figured there ought to be a way to just apply the continuous logs from machine onto machine 1 and bring it back in sync. Do you have a solution to this problem?
