I see the instructions for this as ./installclientsdk (the online instructions) ./installclientsdk -i printed from another IBM source If I do the latter it gives a list of "help" messages. Not what I want. I want to actually install the thing! The log file follows - some rubbish about java parameters - nothing in the doco on this. I am one UNIMPRESSED INFORMIX USER! Your log file is incomplete. Can you provide the complete contents? If you decide to send the log file contents, remove /tmp/installclientsdk.txt and start the installer. In case if you want to retry, - Make sure the installer uses its own JRE. - As super user, Use this command line . ./installclientsdk -javahome none. - For help, run the following command line ./installclientsdk -help. Hi. If you use gcj (execute java -version,see as below*), installclientsdk will hang. Use installclientsdk -javahome none as IBMer said. You should use SUN jdk. *[informix@himalaya ~]$ java -version java version "1.4.2" gcj (GCC) 3.4.4 20050721 (Red Hat 3.4.4-2) Copyright (C) 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. Hi,
I tried installation of IBM Informix Client SDK V2.90.UC4 for Linux x86
RHEL3, 32-Bit found at
http://www.ibm.com/software/data/informix/downloads.html (Informix
Client Software Development Kit (CSDK))
Prefered install method on Linux is RPM. Use the script install_rpm
provided in $INFORMIXDIR.
(If your Linux distro is not based on RPM like Debian you should install
and initialize rpm befor installing, see
http://groups.google.de/group/comp.databases.informix/msg/194a4fa4042f27fd?dmode=source )
Following steps are required if the clientsdk tar file was downloaded
to /tmp/clientsdk.2.90.UC4.LINUX.tar , run as user root, e.g.:
export INFORMIXDIR=/opt/informixmkdir $INFORMIXDIR
chown informix:informix $INFORMIXDIR
cd $INFORMIXDIR
tar xvf /tmp/clientsdk.2.90.UC4.LINUX.tar
./install_rpm -acceptlicense=yes
Thats all.
