Of course, we are running out of space....> >Thanks very much for the insight -- I've looked in the >manual, but the solution hasn't presented itself ;-) >-- > Carol The 66000 pages are system pages. You have 250 BLOB pages. Each BLOB page can contain more than one system page. To determine how many system pages are in each of your BLOB page, add up all your Pages In Chunk numbers and divide by the total number of BLOB pages. In your case, we will assume that you only have one BLOB chunk containing 66000 pages. 66000/250=264. This means that every BLOB page contains 264 system pages!. This may seem way too big. You might want to calculate the average BLOB size and resize your BLOB page. Also notice that you have 249 BLOB pages free. This means that one BLOB page is used. Since one BLOB page=264 system pages, you should have 264 pages used. Which is exactly the number under your Pages Used column. Another way to determine how many pages are in one BLOB page is to do the following: tbstat -d Output should be something like this: Chunks address chk/dbs offset size free bpages flags pathname : : 10028554 3 3 0 990000 ~21138 82500 POB /opt/devices/informix : : Take the size and divide by bpages (990000/82500=12). Thus, for my instance, I have 12 system pages per BLOB page. Now for my system, each page is 2K-bytes. Thus, each BLOB page is 24K-bytes. *** It is important to note that BLOB pages are not shared! If one row contains a BLOB that only takes up 1 system page, 264 system pages are allocated just for that one BLOB. For your system, this means that only 249 rows of data can fit in this chunk. (249 BLOB pages free). This is probably where you are running out of space. You would need to recreate this dbspace and resize your BLOB page to the optimum size. *** Hope this makes sense. ##################################################################### David Nguyen \\\\\\|||/// ---------- Internet: david_nguyen@notes.pw.com . ======= / Uh... \\ Price Waterhouse / \\| O O | / Just restore \\ 3110 Fairview Park Dr \\ / \\v_'/ <- from tape. / Suite 300 # _| |_ \\ / Falls Church, VA 22042 (#) ( ) ---------- (703) 641-5597 #\\//|* *|\\\\ #\\/( * )/ # ===== #include disclaimer.h # (\\ /) Blah, Blah, Blah. # || || .#---'| |----. #----' -----' #####################################################################
