listener-thread: err = -25580 IDS 9.40 UC 4
Answered: green (solid confidence) — The asker confirms the diagnosis (an unauthenticated PHP 'ping' script probing the Informix port every few seconds) was correct and that stopping the script fixed the error.

Hallo,
since a few days we get the fallowing error in our online Log:
09:10:18 listener-thread: err = -25580: oserr = -1: errstr = : Systemerror occ
urred in network function.
The error occure every 10 seconds. We are running IDS 9.40 on an Red
Had Cluster. We can`t remember that we changed something on the System
configuration and on the database configuration in the last 5 days. The
Database Server seems to operate in a normal way. The error also occure
when nobody ist connected to the database server and only one database
package is running on that server. On other servers in the same cluster
we can´t find that message.
It would be great if somebody can help us.
Thanks a lot !

I've had similar situatuion once.
I lost hours to track the problem. It turned out to be a ping-like script
wrote by one of our clients to see "if our server was alive" :o)
The script would just try to connect to our Informix port (through our
custom SSL tunnel from app server though, but nevertheless) every 30 secs
without using any username/password and then ran away.
Are you tracking network connections? Maybe respective logs could tell you
if this is the case with your problem.

Hallo Davorin, thanks a lot for your help. Somebody programmed a php-Script wich opened a Socket-Connection to the database server every 5 seconds to control if the server ist alive or not. After we stopped the script the message did not appear anymore. But now we can`t control if the server is operating. Maybe somebody can help us with that problem to. So we need something (a php-Script), who can tell us that the database system is online. Thanks a lot ! Marco Bögge
If you need alerter which notifies you in case Informix crashes (and many more info) then Busy Bee is your friend: http://www.herber-consulting.de/cgi-bin/MainDriver.pl It's not written in PHP, but in Python and requires Python interpreter installed on db server. I used it on production instance, it's easy to configure and it works great, better than Informix itself :o) "Marconus" <marconus@gmx.de> wrote in message news:1135072022.750519.178200@f14g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... Get the client sdk and write an esql/c program that tries to connect. Or get the jdbc driver and jselect from www.iiug.org and write something that tries to connect.
